How can you find solace and peace in a noisy world?

We are constantly bombarded;

thrown in a storm of emotions;

filled with sorrow.

Looking for Peace.

A peace that settles your mind

Steady you steps

Even though

They are uneven.

This winter seasons

Locked inside

Trying to stay warm.

Is the time

To

Go inside yourself

To see.

What at other times

Was not Visable

During the

Healing Arts Retreat

You will find

Safety and Security

As you begin to unfural,

Let down your guards.

Look at yourself

with Compassion and love

Take a honest look37709dd0-b6d8-4d28-9dec-5bfc4d7be890

And heal the wounds

of your Heart.

This is the Time
To reconnect to the food you eat
The very source of life.
The substance that sustains
Your well being.
Let us reconnect to the soil,
Put our fingers in the dirt.
Feel the ground below our feet.
The air on our cheeks.
Let the wind rustle in the trees.
Blow leaves
That fall to the ground.
Remember the source,
From which you came.
Crawling on four,
Then your two feet.
It is time to honor
The earth.
Everything
Comes from the soil.
The green leaves
That nourishes your soul.

Each day the sun rises and greet the new day,

Yesterday but a memory.

I lay awake for a moment,

Before opening my eyes.

A mood settles in me,

Like the dew on the grass.

Lifting as I become more conscious,

To reveal the cool morning crispness.

How shall I spend the day?

Empty, it is.

Except for the sensations that creep

Into my mind awakening the spirit within.

A morning spent in prayer and appreciation,

For a new day of life.

Lately, it has become difficult to face the frigid air,

My first winter in ten years.

I miss the sunshine of Florida,

The blue skies and waves washing over the beach.

I finish my prayer of appreciation,

And gratitude, vision, and peace.

I venture out into the gray morning,

My senses awash with the crisp morning air.

The wind washes over me,

Like a sheet billowing in the wind flapping between the fibers of my being.

The fresh air,

A sort of newness.

I look to the sky,

Clouds fill my vision.

Like a floating wrapping across the sky,

Keeping everything safely in place.

The winter days have left the trees bare and standing still,

In a state of calm,

I take heed and enjoy the winter of my being,

A-tuned to the nature of the day.

Allowing the cold to settle in my bones,

Strengthening my resolve amidst the cold and barren day.

Afterwards, I retreat into the warmth,

A heart filled with peace and contentment.

Writing as a Practice of Mindfulness

A sort of remembering of a past experience.
This time with detached emotions,
Through the lens of an adult who stepped back into the past to recover a memory that had shaped her life.

It was-like browsing through a picture album of the mind seeing a distorted image of a life lived; from on top of the mountain; into the deepest valley, only to return to the same spot from which I had begun.

Holding onto that image of a little girl sitting all alone, with the innocence of a new born.
Caused undue stress and strain on the body. Now fifty years later has taken hold.

Fifty years ago Pamala sat and tried to make sense of what she was experiencing.
Words eluded her.

She only had a feeing that she could accurately describes,
Which etched itself onto the soft confines of her mind;
It was a seed planted in fertile ground.

As the seed took hold and began to grow;
Unaware Pamala feed it fear, loneliness and unworthiness,

Experience proved her right.
As she continued to hold onto this image like a covering for her loneliness.

She tried to comfort herself.
Only her tiny arms could not fully embrace her whole self.

She was left feeling empty.
Never would her belly be full.
She never knew that she was always whole and complete.

Feeling empty was a falsehood that she told herself and was determined to make real.

So began the process of creating a life
Experience shaped her mind; fear filled her heart.
Her soul continued to search for a resting place.
A quiet spot to call her own.

Glimpses of a life would appear
Only to be covered over with the Karma she created each time she told herself thelie.

The lie shrouded her truth.
The ache in her heart grew stronger pounding her head until the mind shut down and went into hibernation.

Down a deep dark cavern she sunk.
With no light Pamala wandered for many years trying to find a way out.

Shrouded in darkness forced me to look within for a source of light.

Mindfulness Transcends

Today begins a new day.

I crawl out of this old skin of anger, hopelessness, and apathy.

Like a beetle that creeps out its’ exoskeleton.

Before that happens,

There must be a transformation on the inside.

A sort of rebuilding of the self.

A shift in awareness from the body,

Which like a beetle creates a-new.

I have been many such bodies.

An infant, a toddler, a teenager now an adult.

Finally, old age settles like the dew on the morning  grass.

Clings for a moment then ascends.

So with this practice of Mindfulness.

You must transcend the limitations of the physical body.

Enter into a Spiritual Body

Detached from the suffering and pain.

Unmoved by the smallness of the ego.

Embrace the vastness of life.

Hold onto the mystery and wonder of the Mind.

Transcend the problems of the flesh

Enter into the sacredness of the

Spiritual Body

DEMOCRATIC WOMANIST PART II

Building a Strong Inner LIfe through Poetry & Talk, Chronicle the Black Woman's Rise, Womanist Empowerment

The Womanist Empowerment Series builds a “Culture of Empowerment” through Poetry and Talk. It is a philosophy founded on a belief in the power of the feminine aspect of life to restore the balance to Humanity. A vision which acknowledges the wisdom of females and The Dark Mother Leadership archetype. We empowered women to arise and take the helm of this Earth Ship, which has veered off course. We the fierce warriors of peace, women of the world who believe in a system of governance in which we can dream, imagine and build together. A recognition that over six thousand years of brutality by the current power structure has taken its’ toll on Humanity and the planet earth. The current regime has the people and earth headed for destruction. We must set sail, voices to the wind, heart engaged and feet planted in the soil, reconstruct a New Humanity.

MINDFULNESS PART II

Mindfulness, The Great Awakening, The Great Awakening 2016, Womanist Empowerment

Mindfulness is Non-Reactive

Why do I need a retort to anything displeasing ? Why do I feel the need to defend?  As I look further into the experience, I acknowledge that when a person attacks me I feel threatened and need to retaliate, as I do not want to appear weak and be the target of a person’s hate.

What could the person really say that would hurt me? Do I give my power over to the other and let her know where I am wounded and let her continue  to pour salt into an open wound? Will it hurt more? What is hurting about the situation? Do I feel like a victim? Is this person victimizing me?

I look back into my history and I have felt victimized by people. Both by the words and physical violence. I recognize people can hurt me. This was an attitude that I had as a child. I did not have much power then, but now I do.

I look deeper and can see where the words came from and why the girl said those mean things. The girl told me she hated light-skinned girls with long hair. She slung her hate toward me. I look at her and see she is neither light-skinned nor do she have long hair. She is jealous and angry. It is her feelings. I do not own them. I let the comments go like a feather blowing in the wind.

There are many instances when we are the recipient of negative emotions. We can let the emotion spring up without reacting and watch it disappear. It is mindful attention that you become aware what is invisible in your experience and what may be the intentions of another.

The Great Awakening 2016 Part 15

Building a Strong Inner LIfe through Poetry & Talk, Chronicle the Black Woman's Rise, The Great Awakening 2016, Womanist Empowerment

A Vision for the World: Master the Inner Game.

Paint a picture on your heart.

The world, slightly different from what American Education taught you.

Schooled on viewing the world through your five senses.

If you could not touch it or feel it nor see it,

It must not be real.

Then something magically happened.

You began to filter experience through your mind.

You could think,

And explain what you saw.

All this was well and good,

For an adolescent coming of age in the world.

There comes a time when you realize,

There is much more to this world.

Another dimension exists between silence and darkness.

The vast inner space,

Yet to be explored.

Lives in our wildest imagination.

Out of the reaches of our five senses.

This other place of mind and heart.

Opens at your beaconing.

The world of the human heart.

Electrical pulsations create a magnetic field.

Each and everything connects.

A live wire touches and ignites a flame,

That burns and warm your body.

Greed, hatred and violence breaks the connection.

It is the heart.

 You must change.

To a ring of love,

That circles the globe

Cause vibrations to rise.

People in world,

Flourish and thrive.

Revives the heart of Humanity.

A 7-Step Transformation

Introduction:

Greetings and thank you for the purchase of my book. I am Sasheta, Cultural Transformation Catalyst, and Poet.I envision a new generation of Black Women who discover and embrace their feminine essence. This essence is the very source of your renewal. It will empower and transform you.

This manuscript is part autobiographical, and part Buddhist Psychology sprinkled with wisdom gained through over twenty years in public education and twenty-seven years as practicing member of Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism.

The goal of this book is to Empower and Transform the Black Woman through Poetry & Talk. We, women, are heirs to a grand mission, that of reconstructing the world in the Twenty-First Century. It is a courageous endeavor that compels us, women, to become leaders in our sector of society. Who is better acclimated to shape society than we women?

Because we carry a double burden, of caring for the family, and discrimination in the workplace, there are major hurdles to traverse as we stand up and become leaders.

This book is for the Woman, who wants to discover an organic source of power that is fundamentally different than masculine power. It is Feminine Power, that transforms and empowers, not control and dominate.

Furthermore, the coming age is one of the Transformations which necessitates that Women be instrumental in co-creating a “Culture of Empowerment”, that is vital for the survival of all people on the earth. It is empowering to let go of the things that cause us to suffer. Pain is an evitable part of the human condition. On the other hand, suffering is a choice.

Another important element for us, women in this “Age of Transformation” is to know the ways of the Storytelling Mind. It loves stories, especially the ones it tells itself. Perhaps an adult unknowingly passed on a story for you. Or, you may have absorbed a story in in your family and as a member of society. You can decide whether you want to continue to live that story or create a New Story that will transform your life.

This manuscript also speaks to the idea that the Black Woman’s cultural differences arrive from a collective heritage. We lost an important connection to our traditional way of life and we must acknowledge the inherent problems we face coming of age in America. I propose that because of our unknown Heritage, the Black Woman’s Role is one of community empowerment thus different from the White Woman’. Our lives are an ongoing journey towards reconnecting with what was lost.

No longer do I long to survive. My aspirations are to thrive. But first, I must acknowledge that the woman’s mental health has been pushed to the rear. Our main concern has been to take care of the family and children. This is the reason I developed A-Seven Step Transformation. The steps are a P.A.N.A.C.E.A. for Spiritual Transformation. They present a new and radically different way of viewing the self in the midst of relationships.

A webinar is planned for the summer of 2016 which will help guide you in the implementation of the Seven Steps. One component of the 7- Steps is Mindfulness. Mindfulness is attentiveness to what in happening in your body, mind, and spirit. You will realize how important it is to encounter life as it is instead of how you think it should be. This will assist you in experiencing the unchanging nature of the Mind.  Through the daily practice of mindfulness, you will discover a greater purpose for your life as you awaken, nurture, and enhance the feminine gifts of intuition and second sight.

This manuscript also addresses the need for authentic leadership models for young women and the consequence of failing to fulfill one’s role in life. Readers will learn how to heal the heart and empower the Feminine Aspect of life and develop unique leadership skills.

You will have the opportunity to adopt a feminine archetype for personal and professional success. The most important issue the book will address is the Social Status of Women and the role we will play in the Twenty-First Century.

Moreover, as you read the book, you will realize an authentic source of power hidden in the depths of your life. This is your Feminine Essence. Is it the key to reaching a powerful destiny? This essence is a foundation of capability. When discovered it will help you to begin to show up powerfully and create healthy relationships—the type of relationships that empower. There will no longer be a need to struggle for power when you step into your role in society.  We, women, are the ones whose sole responsibility it is to shape human life.

The Seven Steps are an open and refreshing view of life, which leads to healthy alternative patterns of giving and receiving love. As you begin to embody the feminine essence, you will start to empty your mind of the old ways of “Being in Relationships”, and become an Agent of Change in your family, society and ultimately the world.

This manuscript presents a radically different way of “Seeing and Being in Relationships.” Transform your life internally and develop within yourself a brilliant inner stronghold. Encounter life as it is, instead of the way you habitually see it and establish absolute happiness

Lastly, this manuscript defines the Spiritual Revolution we women must take part in to transform not only our lives but our families and communities. The “Seven Steps” will open the door to the vast inner life and guide you to a source of feminine power lying dormant in the depths of your life. It is a spiritual journey and the next movement in our collective story as Women in society. You will begin to experience the unchanging, true nature of your Mind and develop an autonomous identity as a human being. Step away from identification with the body and acquire a Spiritual Identification which will empower the “Feminine Aspect of Life,”.  You will have established an unshakable self.

The target audiences are female entrepreneurs, mothers who homeschool and women in education. Males are encouraged, but the emphasis is on developing a feminine source of power. The twenty-first century demands a New Human Community, and the New Human Community demands a new twenty-first century.

My Seven Steps Will Heal and Empower the Black Woman, which benefit both your personal and professional life. Step two is an adaption of Carl Jung’s Feminine archetypes as models of leadership. They are as follow: The Faerie, the Lover, and the Wise Queen. When you implement one of these universal attributes and align your intentions, mind, body, and soul, you become unstoppable. Society is ready for real women who are ready to show up authentically.

The steps are as follow:

First:  Powerful Purposefulness (Finding Your Place in the World)

The essential truth of life is, we each have boundless potential and power to affect change in our lives and the world. There is a bigger vision of benefiting others, which will reduce self-importance. Life then becomes simple and straightforward.

Second:  Acknowledge the Feminine Aspect of Life. It will bring balance and wholeness to the self as you discover a new source of power. This power is flexibility and clarity in the midst of chaos.

Third: Nonfeasance is the failure to act that is part of one’s responsibility and the consequence of not fulfilling your role in life.

Fourth: Give Attentiveness to the present with Mindfulness. Real Power is experienced in the present, Mindfulness allows you to connect with the wisdom and compassion of your higher self for better understanding and healing.

Fifth: Creative Visualization is the process of finding your inner guide for support and guidance.

Sixth: Evolve Beyond Suffering and enter a time of healing, healing that is more about letting go of those things that causes suffering.

Seventh: Align with the Eternal and Universal truth, awaken to the “Law of Life” that simultaneously permeate the universe and the individual self, experience wisdom, compassion, and courage. Achieve your potential as a human being and awaken your heart of wisdom. Visualize a new story that transforms your life and co-create a culture of loving kindness, compassion, and understanding that will change society.

Overall, the Seven Steps will develop your awareness and self-identity, enhance the quality of your life, and contribute to the realization of your dreams. In summary, the long-term goal of this book and corresponding seminars and webinars are to establish the Value of Woman’s Work and empower a new generation of Black Women who will transform the world. The second objective of this book is to reaffirm the role of women in society. We are the guardians of culture, which ensure the perennial nature of humanity. Join me as we incarnate a vision of Womanist Leaders through Poetry and Talk.

An important aspect that will aid your Personal Transformation is the creation of an Empowerment Journal. You can purchase or make one. Use it to reflect at the end of each chapter. In addition, you can create a video, visual art or poetry piece and write an essay that defines your benchmarks, goals, and stages as you progress through the book. You can post your reflections on my Facebook page; Womanist Empowerment or my Blog womanistempowermentseries.com.

Moreover, this book will launch my online course Womanist Empowerment: Redefining Womanhood during the summer of 2016 and serve as a benchmark for Building a New Human Community. It is an ongoing endeavor to create a Culture of Womanist Empowerment through Poetry and Talk. Join me by following my Blog and post a comment or book review.

You and I will celebrate as we share our newfound way of being and embody this driving force of cooperation and symbiosis. “Put your Finger on the Pulse and Feel the Beat.” The Rhythm of Life. It is a challenge; I will help you hold the hand of the child within. For that child, anything is possible.
